How to Get to Venice

For those arriving by train, you step off the train and you are on the Grand Canal. But for those arriving by air to Marco Polo, it's a bit confusing. Travel like a pro, read our suggestions and you will have no trouble.
Number 1 tip: Print a map of the location of your hotel. Print our your confirmation along with telephone number.
You'll want to know exactly where your hotel is, otherwise you could be carrying your luggage over several of the 400+ bridges in Venice. Not a pleasurable way to start your stay in the wonderful city.
We have helped many a tourist find their hotel, but only if they have the phone number or the directions provided by the hotel. Addresses don't mean much in Venice, as the house numbers are based on the way the postman delivers the mail. And locals don't pay much attention to the names of hotels, unless they are very well known. So it's important to know the square, piazza and best of all the boat stop.
