Nicola followed in his father's footsteps and became a lampworker, creating everything from animals and candies to entire orchestras using just a few simple tools and a torch. After years of pleeding, he agreed to try his hand at bead making.
We supplied him with some American made tools and equipment and books on making beads. He then studied at the Abate Zane school in Murano, and as you can see, he was a quick study. He loves making the beads! His cousin Andrea has now joined the team as he sits beside Nicola working daily on new creations. Together they have become some of the best bead makers in Venice, whose creations are often copied but never equalled. Now we have added additional artists from Murano who work not only in Moretti Glass but with borosilicate glass (very durable and gives us the ability to work for long periods of time with the glass to make some very special pieces). |
