Zanfirico Murano Glass Beads
Zanfirico is a very old technique in the furnaces of Murano where they make canes with fili (little lines) which run through the canes. Our zanfirico is produced exclusively for us at a furnace in Murano and provided to our beadmakers. The millefiori is traditional Effetre millefiori though we do have some special millefiori made for us in the furnaces. These beads are one of the older and more elaborate of the Venetian Beads.
Reticello is similar to filigrana as it has fili (strands) of an opaque color which are twisted as they are pulled into canes giving a little diamond appearance.
Dogaressa are named for the ornate handwork on each bead which features little scrolling and piping of colors and a small rose in the beads. Sometime also called Serenessima.
These two styles are some of the more difficult beads to for our beadmakers to produce involving a longer time and greater skill.
