Transparent with Red and Blue Stripes Murano Glass Chevron Bead Oval, 20mm

These are reproductions of ancient trade beads produced in Murano with mid 20th Century glass canes found in the furnaces. Unlike our handmade beads which are made on a mandrel, Chevrons begin as a single cane with the hole already in it as it is produced in the furnace, which is produced by blowing a bubble, therefore it is irregular in symmetry. The base of this one is a transparent cane with dark red and blue stripes. The outer layers are ground away leaving just the thin lines. It takes time to patiently grind away each layer one by one.
