Delicate flowers bloom across transparent Rosa Murano Glass in this beautiful 25mm Fiorato disc bead, handmade using traditional Venetian lampworking techniques.
Fiorato, meaning “flowered” in Italian, is one of the most recognizable decorative styles in Venetian beadmaking. Rather than painting the flowers onto a finished bead, the lampworker creates the decoration with molten glass, carefully applying the floral details to the surface while working at the flame.
This bead begins with a luminous transparent Rosa, or Pink, Murano Glass base. Small flowers are individually created on the exterior, forming a colorful raised decoration that gives the bead both visual and tactile dimension.
Because the flowers sit above the surface of the bead, light moves differently across every detail. The transparent pink background gives the bead a fresh, romantic quality while allowing the hand-applied floral work to become the focal point.
The bead is approximately 25mm in diameter and has a gently rounded, puffy profile through the center. This shape is commonly described as either a disc or lentil.
Its substantial size makes it especially beautiful as a focal bead in a necklace or bracelet. It can also be used to create dramatic statement earrings. Combine it with coordinating pink Murano Glass, crystal, ivory or contrasting Venetian beads to create a complete jewelry design.
